And in a separate photo shoot with the Sgt. and his wife, Casteel was presented the Sgt's dog tag. Casteel held out a chain, and said, "Sarg, 20 years in the military and I never wore a dog tag. but if you will do me the honor, I won't take it off til you come home."

R stepped back and saluted the young Sergeant, who quickly snapped his own salute in return.

Believe me ladies and gentlemen when I say there wasn't a dry eye in the house.

Cringing at the sound of her mother calling her “Little Red”, Red considers ignoring her until she gets her name right; especially since she turned eighteen a month ago. But her mother wants Red to deliver a basket of goodies to grandmother. Taking the road away from the village square that leads her to the short cut through the woods to grandma’s. Even with the sun high overhead the woods can be creepy although reminding Red of the villagers’ stories about bears and lions; animals she has never encountered in all the time she has walked the forest. Suddenly out of no where a loud growl emits from the trees, scaring Red and causing her to run without looking where she was headed.

Letting out a shrilling scream Red runs smack against a hard surface; knocking her to the ground, screaming all the more louder. Large hands grab her shoulders, shaking and telling her to shut up. Doing as she was told Red looks up into the softest blue eyes. Angry that he scared her so, Red reprimands the guy while pummeling him with her fists. Red quickly realizes that a “real” man stands before her; and what a splendid though rakish specimen he was, too. Wetting her lips seductively, Red informs the man that he will make her into a woman. The guy accuses her of playing with fire, provoking her to kiss him that has them falling to the forest floor. Red believes that a kiss make her a woman. Amused, the hunky man informs Red that it requires more then a kiss to make her a woman. Hmmm…what could he possibly mean?

A delightful but stimulating short story, The Awakening, is a captivating twist to the “Little Red Riding Hood” children’s tale. Darts and Laurels...

Kudos to Hillary Clinton for her New Hampshire win, and to John McCain as well. You did a good job there, now go forth and fight the good fight.

Darts to George W. Bush who seems to forget he works FOR us, WE THE PEOPLE, the United States as a whole not His Father, Dick Cheyney, and the Military Industrial Complex. Oh, and in spite of what he believes, his actions sure don't lead one to think he works for GOD either. Satan maybe.

Darts to the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pilosi who took the only tool we have to rein in the President, George who would be King, off the table. Impeachment is a tool, NOT a disease. You allowed the Republican Party, and Tom Delay to go after Clinton for poor and improper personal choices, a personal vendetta. Now you have real crimes being committed and you are allowing the men who have committed these real, on the books type CRIMINAL ACTS to go free. May I ask exactly whose side you are on Madam Speaker?

Kudos to the doctors and blessings on them and their staffs of nurses and technicians for doing what they can under the most dangerous and apalling conditions on the war fronts.

Darts to Republicans and Pro-Lifers who would sacrifice women at any cost. Also to those who seem to think women are dumb, and have no rights, and should be kept at home barefoot and pregnant.

Kudos to the middle class who are becoming poorer while politicians and big businesses fill their pockets at our expense. At least you are trying to make the changes happen. Don't give up!

Darts to the Politicians in Congress, ALL of you. DON'T EVEN THINK to tell us women should stay at home and not work. Our husbands can no longer make enough to support us as a couple thanks you, and if there are children involved, it is absolute necessity for both parents to work to allow them to have a decent chance some kind of life.

Kudos to those Moderates in the House and Senate who are trying to support our Constitution under apalling conditions, and the heavy hands of those from the right wing Christian factions. There are those who want their Christian Fundamentalist beliefs established as the State Religion. Hmmm...I thought that was a NO-NO constitutionally. Well, I hope our Moderates are strong enough to override this extreme predjudice.

Darts to President George W. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheyney, and their cadre. I think the USA should be worried about the lies you and the President's lapdogs in the Justice Department continue to propagate, and be caught in, we are NOT stupid. What are you hiding, and why won't you tell us the truth? Will we learn the truth too late?
